About Us
How It Started
Scott Limmer, manager of Comanche Wilderness Outfitters (CWO), started the business in 1991. Growing up in South Dakota on family property bordering the Black Hills National Forest, Scott developed a love for the outdoors through hiking, skiing, hunting, fishing, trapping, riding horses, and more.
As a child, Scott had the opportunity to participate in a Colorado Division of Wildlife study that involved live-trapping elk, and the experience fueled a lifelong interest in elk. Scott’s passion for hunting and his desire to learn about big game species led him to attend Colorado State University, where he studied business and biology.
During his time at CSU, Scott took summer classes at the CSU Pingree Park Mountain Campus. The campus borders Rocky Mountain National Park and the Comanche Peak Wilderness Area. While there, Scott learned more about elk and other wildlife, and spent many hours in the backcountry. After college, Scott worked as a restaurant manager and outfitter, becoming a full-time outfitter in 1995.

CWO has won more awards than any other outfitter in the history of the Colorado Outfitters Association’s Best of Species Contest. Thanks to a long-term and loyal staff of excellent guides and wranglers, CWO has become one of the most elite outfitting businesses in the United States.
Scott has served several terms on the Colorado Outfitters Association Board of Directors and the United Sportsmen’s Council of Colorado. He has also worked closely with the Colorado Division of Wildlife to ensure sound wildlife management for CWO’s hunts.
